Strasbourg or Club Brugge? Southampton forward on Eric Chelle's radar to decide future
Published: August 10, 2025
Southampton forward Samuel Edozie is set to decide his next career move within 24 hours, with Racing Strasbourg and Club Brugge battling for his signature.
According to transfer market expert Sacha Tavolieri, Club Brugge have reignited their interest in the 22-year-old after ending their pursuit in late July, submitting a fresh offer to Southampton.
However, the Championship side deem the bid insufficient, though Club Brugge view Edozie as a key addition to bolster their wide attacking options for the new campaign.
Strasbourg, backed by Chelsea’s BlueCo ownership group, are currently in pole position after reaching a verbal agreement with Southampton.
The Ligue 1 club, which finished seventh last season to qualify for the UEFA Conference League, is seeking to reinforce its squad before the European campaign begins.
Edozie is also on the radar of Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, who is monitoring the winger as part of his plans for Nigeria ahead of the resumption of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Born in London, the Manchester City academy product is provisionally cap-tied to England, having represented the Young Lions at U19 level and played at the 2023 Fifa U20 World Cup.
The winger is no stranger to Belgian football, having spent last season on loan at Anderlecht.
He made 23 Jupiler Pro League appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists, while adding a goal and an assist in five Europa League outings.
Edozie joined Southampton in September 2022 and has two years left on his contract.
Following relegation from the Premier League, the Saints are undergoing a major squad overhaul and appear open to selling the Nigeria-eligible forward this summer.
