Leicester, West Brom, Blackburn and Swansea interested in forward keen on playing for Nigeria
Published: August 11, 2025
St. Pauli forward Dapo Afolayan is attracting interest from several Championship sides with just three weeks remaining before the summer transfer window closes.
According to Hayters, Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion, Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City have all expressed interest in the winger, while Belgian Pro League clubs Gent and Racing Genk are also monitoring the situation.
The 27-year-old has entered the final year of his contract with the Bundesliga club, whom he joined from Bolton Wanderers in January 2023.
He is just 16 appearances away from reaching 100 games for St. Pauli, having contributed 16 goals and seven assists.
A Chelsea academy product, Afolayan has previously played for Toronto FC, Barnet, Tooting & Mitcham United, Loughborough University, Solihull Moors and West Ham United, where he had loan spells at Oldham Athletic, Mansfield Town and Bolton.
Born in London, Afolayan has represented England's C team but remains eligible for Nigeria at senior level.
Keen to represent the Super Eagles, he visited their London camp in May during the Unity Cup to meet Nigeria Football Federation officials.
St. Pauli are weighing up whether to sanction his departure this summer should a suitable bid arrive.
