Ola Aina, Awoniyi and Dennis' coach Nuno on the chopping block at Nottingham Forest
Published: August 22, 2025
Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo is facing an uncertain future at the City Ground despite having his contract extended only two months ago.
According to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, tensions between Nuno and Nottingham Forest's ownership group, led by Evangelos Marinakis, could see the Portuguese coach sensationally depart the club.
Should Nuno depart, it would mark another managerial shake-up for the East Midlands side, leaving Nigeria internationals Ola Aina, Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis to await clarity on their club's direction in the new season.
While Aina went the distance in Forest's opening day win versus Brentford, Awoniyi was an unused substitute and Dennis was not called up.
The 51-year-old openly voiced his frustrations last week in a Sky Sports interview, criticising the club's summer transfer strategy ahead of their Premier League clash with Brentford.
The outspoken comments are believed to have widened the rift between Nuno and Marinakis, raising serious questions about the manager's future in the East Midlands.
Since Nuno took charge at Nottingham Forest, Ola Aina has featured in 47 matches, while Awoniyi has made 42 appearances, scoring four goals during that period.
Emmanuel Dennis has not played a competitive game for the club since the dismissal of former manager Steve Cooper.
Nottingham Forest confirmed this morning that Nuno will address the media on Friday afternoon in his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.
