Official: Nigeria's 2024 Wafcon-winning captain Ajibade joins Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain have officially completed the signing of Nigerian international Rasheedat Ajibade, handing a major boost to their women’s squad.

The 25-year-old forward joins on a two-year contract, following the expiration of her deal with Spanish side Atlético Madrid.

Born on December 8, 1999, in Lagos, Ajibade began her career at 13 with FC Robo Queens before moving to Europe, where she featured for Avaldsnes IL in Norway and later Atlético Madrid.

During her four seasons in Spain, she established herself as one of the league’s most dynamic attackers, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 25 matches in the 2024-25 campaign.

Ajibade captains Nigeria’s Super Falcons and was instrumental in their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph in Morocco.

The Falcons staged a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over the hosts in the final, sealing their record-extending 10th continental crown.

Ajibade’s commanding displays earned her the Player of the Tournament accolade, alongside a Woman of the Match performance in the semi-final victory against South Africa.

She has also represented Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympics, enhancing her reputation on the global stage.

"I’m deeply honoured to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, a top-drawer club in Europe,” Ajibade said.

"This is a major step for me, and I’m committed to giving my all to help PSG win titles and to inspire young footballers, be they in Nigeria or elsewhere."

Ajibade now joins fellow Nigerian international Jennifer Echegini in Paris, further strengthening PSG’s attacking options ahead of their Division 1 Féminine and UEFA Women’s Champions League campaigns.
