'Even if he breaks his leg' - Ex-Besiktas midfielder says Osimhen is determined to face Liverpool
Published: September 24, 2025
Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin has insisted that Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen will do everything possible to feature in the upcoming UEFA Champions League showdown against Liverpool.
The Turkish champions are sweating over the fitness of their marquee summer signing from Napoli, with the Super Eagles forward still recovering from a chin injury sustained during Nigeria's 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Uyo.
The setback has kept him out of Galatasaray's last three fixtures, including a crucial Champions League encounter with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Galatasaray's medical staff remain hopeful that the former African Footballer of the Year, who has already resumed individual training, can be fast-tracked back to full fitness before the visit of Liverpool on September 30.
The Lion will take on Alanyaspor in domestic action before turning their attention to Liverpool.
"I think Osimhen will play in the Alanyaspor match," Engin said, as quoted by habersarikirmizi.com.
"Even if he breaks his leg, Osimhen would want to play in the Liverpool match. He's not the type of player to pick matches.
"He'll be 100 percent on the pitch for the Liverpool match."
Before his spell on the sidelines, Osimhen scored in back-to-back Super Lig games against Kayserispor and Rizespor.
The Nigeria international is no stranger to facing Liverpool, having come up against the Reds twice in the 2022-2023 Champions League while at Napoli.
