'A milestone' - Goalkeeper Ezekiel reacts after winning debut for Flying Eagles against Australia

Flying Eagles goalkeeper Clinton Andy Ezekiel has described his debut in Nigeria's 3-1 victory over Australia as a milestone in his career.

Ezekiel was handed his first start in the friendly at the Complejo Deportivo Ruca Mapu in Santiago, Chile, with first-choice shot-stopper Ebenezer Harcourt dropped to the bench.

Goals from Tahir Maigana, Achihi Oseer, and Charles Agada ensured Nigeria wrapped up their World Cup preparations on a high after an earlier 1-1 draw against Chile.

In a post on X, the young goalkeeper reminisced on the occasion, describing it as a moment he will cherish for the rest of his life.

The Bayelsa United shot-stopper also appreciated the technical crew for the opportunity and support.

"Yesterday, I got the opportunity to make my debut for the Flying eagles in our 3-1 win against Australia U-20's, a milestone in my journey that I will cherish for the rest of my life," Ezekiel said.

"I'm thankful to my coaches, teammates and family for their support. First of many!"

The Flying Eagles will begin their FIFA U20 World Cup campaign against Norway on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the Estadio Fiscal in Talca.

They will face Saudi Arabia on October 2 before concluding their group stage fixtures against Colombia on October 5.
