Update: EMMANUEL EMENIKE Eager To Play Through Pain
Published: October 23, 2012
With hours to go before Spartak Moscow's Champions League clash against Benfica, Nigeria striker Emmanuel Emenike has expressed his willingness to play in the third round match of the group stage of the Champions League.
''The pain in the back appeared before the match against Barcelona. And before we played Anzhi the pain increased, I could not play. It has become less painful but it still hurts. However, I am ready to take the field, I feel strong. If the coach decides, I will play on injections,'' Emenike, who admits the game against the Portuguese side is very important, told sovsports.ru
''When the team loses, there are problems psychologically. But we are all ready for the upcoming game. Ready to play.''
Emenike's last game in the Russian championship was against city rivals CSKA Moscow just over two weeks ago. And when he was replaced in the 76th minute, he refused to shake hands with the Spanish coach of the red and white Unai Emery.
''Honestly, do not even think about it - was too upset with my play as I left the field. Angry, and in my mind there was only anger. If the coach held out his hand, would have necessary shook it
''Why should I be fined? If you want to shake your hand, you bring it out. Do not want - do not bring it out. A private matter,'' says Emenike to the Russian website.
