IZUNNA UZOCHUKWU: We Do Not Belong In The Bottom
Published: November 13, 2012
FC Midtjylland has in recent matches experimented with relatively new roles for a couple of players. On the defensive midfield is stated Kristian Bak, while Nigerian Izunna Uzochukwu is pushed up to play a more offensive role than he is used to.
''I think it generally has worked well with Izunna, the movement. But today (yesterday, ed) he suffers along with the rest of the team, the quality of our ball game is simply too poor, '' says head coach Glen Riddarholmen.
''There is not much difference compared to my normal role on the team. I have been a little more aggressive and I have to get used to. But I'm fine as an attacking midfielder and accept without problems when I'm asked to play it. But the number six position is my favorite place. Can I still go with offensive, not quite as much, but it's also fine with me, '' says the 22-year-old Uzochukwu to bold.dk.
The strong midfielder recognizes that autumn has been disappointing in terms of results, but he feels better times just around the corner.
''The results have not been as we had imagined. But performance has improved recently, and we grow all the time as a team. If we stick to the tactical level in the year's final four games, I am sure we will enjoy more wins, so we can move up the table where we belong.
''FC Copenhagen in the park on Sunday is a good challenge for us and a great opportunity to show that we are moving forward,'' says Izunna to bold.dk.
The contest between FC Copenhagen and FCM on Sunday is a repeat of the opening game of the season, where FCM led 2-0 but eventually lost the game 2 - 4.
