Victor Obinna Defends Peter Odemwingie In Transfer Saga
Published: February 07, 2013
Lokomotiv Moscow striker Victor Obinna has told Russian media that he is in touch with Peter Odemwingie. The ex Inter Milan player also commented on Odemwingie's recent problems with coach Stephen Keshi and West Brom.
''Trust me, he is loved in the national team. Coach Stephen Keshi was constantly inviting Peter. And at the African Cup of Nations, was not invited. What happened to me - a mystery. Personally, I have never had any problems with the team,'' Obinna told Soviet Sport.
He added: ''Peter is in no way to blame for the misunderstanding that happened (with West Brom, ed). He became the unwitting participant. The club said: "Peter, you can go to Queens Park Rangers, we agreed." And he hit the road. It turned out the negotiators have misunderstood each other ... ''
Going further, Obinna spoke on the reasons why he did not attend Peter Odemwingie's wedding held last summer in the United Kingdom.
''Peter invited me, but failed (to attend). We had a game that day. Recently, he became a father. We corresponded with him, his entire family is very happy,'' he said.
