Teammate Heaps Praise On Rabiu Afolabi
Published: April 04, 2013
The 32-year-old Nigerian Rabiu Afolabi joined SønderjyskE last month and has delivered a solid impression in his first two matches in which he has partnered Icelandic Hallgrimur Jonasson in central defense.
Hallgrimur Jonasson is glad he is not the head coach of SønderjyskE who now has several options in central defense including Niels Lodberg, who is back from suspension.
''He is quite simply just a really good player. We did not get much training before the match against Silkeborg, so we had to talk a lot together and try to solve the problems on the way, and he was fully aware of. It's not all new players who feel that way. Many think most of themselves,'' Jonasson told Danish website bold.dk.
He went further: ''But it worked fine, and he also made it against Randers, I think. He is quick, skilful with the ball and strong in his duels.
''But generally you can just say that he is a great player, and therefore it has been easy to get him into the team. And it very well for the squad that we now have a little more competition, and that we are not as vulnerable to damage. ''
