Rohr Has His Say On That Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium Pitch & DRC Team
Gernot Rohr was full of praise for the Democratic Republic of Congo National Team that played out a 1-1 draw with the Super Eagles in a pre-World Cup friendly at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Monday evening.

He has described the pitch as difficult and explained why Odion Ighalo and John Obi Mikel were not involved in the friendly.

''We played against a very good team from Democratic Republic of Congo, they are a very, very good squad,'' Rohr told reporters post-match, including allnigeriasoccer.com.

''We had to see some players who didn't play so much, two of them played their first game today.

''It was not easy, the pitch was not easy to play but it was for the two teams. We didn't want to take risks to play with some of players who are tired coming from China.''

Two offensive-minded players Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo and Junior Lokosa debuted for the Super Eagles, and Bursaspor's William Troost-Ekong netted his first goal for the national team.

''We scored a wonderful goal and could have scored a second one and in the end there was a penalty.

''We didn't win the match but it was a very interesting test for everybody especially for some players we didn't know so well. ''

Next up, the Super Eagles travel to the English capital for a glamour friendly against Russia-bound Three Lions on Saturday, June 2.
