Ex-Nigeria U20 Coach Obuh Agrees With Rohr: No Standout Player In Super Eagles
Published: May 30, 2018
Former Nigeria U20 coach John Obuh has stated that there are no standout players in the Super Eagles squad that can single-handedly determine the outcome of matches at the 2018 World Cup.
Obuh is on the same page as Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr who has said that the new set of Super Eagles are packed full of young talents but are not on the same level as the class of 1998 that contained Austin Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Daniel Amokachi and Victor Ikpeba.
''If you remember the way Nigeria has been before we made our name during the period of Westerhof, most of those players were names that were made locally until when he had to assist them to travel out to play for some clubs and that necessitated to the quality of the play we had and the names that we call so far our big names,'' Obuh told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''I want to believe that this World Cup that we are going into will definitely give so many of them opportunities to make big names.''

Obuh went on to concede that the Super Eagles might do well at the World Cup, saying : ''If we have to follow the antecedents, we have to believe that it is a good team that is going to make us proud though the World Cup is going to be a different ball game.
''The success that they have had so far should be able to spur them into bringing out their best in terms of performance.''
The Super Eagles delegation is set to fly out of Abuja to London on Wednesday ahead of their friendly against England on June 2.
