No Going Back On Decision To Play For Nigeria As Feyenoord Whizkid Arrives In Abuja
Published: May 30, 2018
There's no going back on the decision of Feyenoord Rotterdam wonderkid Lateef Omidiji Jnr to commit his international future to Nigeria over his country of birth United States and the Netherlands, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
The Arsenal linked striker jetted out of the Netherlands on Wednesday to link up with the Nigeria U15 team at their get-together in Abuja ahead of the African Youth Games.
Dutch club Feyenoord have given Omidiji their blessing for his trip to Nigeria but he has to return to the club before the start of pre-season training.
The United States Soccer Federation were persistent in their pursuit of the Las Vegas-born starlet, with multiple invitations to attend their youth teams training camps in the last two years but Nigerian Federation chiefs Amaju Pinnick and Seyi Akinwunmi were very determined that the country should not lose him.
Nigeria U15 coach Danladi Nasidi scouted Omidiji when he visited the United States in 2014 and had been keeping a close eye on the player before he handed him a maiden invitation to the national team.
The 3rd African Youth Games have been scheduled to take place in Algiers, 17-27 July 2018.
