What Tottenham striker Etete said after scoring against Blackburn Rovers in Premier League 2
Published: March 01, 2021
Kion Etete helped Tottenham Hotspur extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League 2 to six matches after earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers at Hotspur Way last Friday.
The Anglo-Nigerian striker has been in brilliant form in 2021 and his first half goal against Rovers saw him take his tally to three goals in his last five matches in the division.
Etete gave Tottenham the lead when he prodded home from close range on the stroke of half-time, before teammate Brooklyn Lyons-Foster was sent off in first-half stoppage time.
He came close to scoring a winner for the north London team with twenty minutes remaining but Blackburn goalkeeper Stergiakis managed to block his effort from a tight angle.
Etete has praised his Tottenham teammates for the point earned despite playing the entirety of the second half with ten men.
Writing on Instagram, he said : "Was a great battles from the lads to grab a point with 10 men๐๐พ".
Goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi and center back Tobi Omole were in the Tottenham Hotspur side against Blackburn Rovers.
