World Cup-bound Ghana midfielder beats Butler-Oyedeji to Arsenal Goal of the Month
Published: November 15, 2022
Arsenal supporters have voted the goal scored by World Cup-bound Ghana central midfielder Thomas Partey in the north London derby as the club's best in October 2022, informs the official website of the Gunners.
Twenty minutes into the contest at the Emirates Stadium in London, the Ghanaian, from outside the box, side footed the ball into the top corner to open the scoring.
Partey's strike was chosen as the fans favourite by a big margin, with 51 percent of the supporters choosing it as the club's Goal of the Month.
Partey beat Anglo-Nigerian winger Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Bukayo Saka, Ismail Oulad M'Hand, Caitlin Foord, Lia Walti and Jordan Nobbs to the monthly accolade.
Butler-Oyedeji didn't finish in the top three, with Partey's effort against Nottingham Forest coming second with 21 percent of the votes and Nobbs in third place with 15 percent.
The Hale End Academy graduate was shortlisted for his goal against Northampton Town in a Papa Johns Trophy clash on October 18.
Butler-Oyedeji was invited to train with the first team several times in October but did not receive a call up for a competitive match played by Mikel Arteta's team.
