19yo Nigerian forward promoted to Arsenal first team training pre-Newcastle United
Published: January 02, 2023Arsenal have rounded off their preparations ahead of their mouthwatering clash against Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday under the lights.
Manager Mikel Arteta put the players through their paces in a training session held at London Colney on Monday, January 2.
The Spanish football tactician promoted Hale End Academy product Nathan Butler-Oyedeji to first team training, just as he did before the trip to Brighton & Hove and the visit of West Ham United.
The London-born forward failed to make the squads that registered back-to-back wins after the World Cup break.
Butler-Oyedeji making the matchday squad against the Magpies seems a tough ask considering that Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have been firing on all cylinders since the Premier League restart.
However, with the games coming thick and fast, the 19-year-old may be considered for the Emirates FA Cup third round clash against Oxford United next Monday.
Butler-Oyedeji has shown what he's made of against Football League opposition in the current season by finding the net against Cambridge United, Northampton Town and Stevenage in the Papa Johns Trophy.
