Osimhen vs En-Nesyri: Ex-Besiktas defender chooses between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce strikers
Published: April 08, 2025
Former Besiktas defender Selim Soydan has weighed in on the debate between two of the most talked-about forwards in Turkish football, Victor Osimhen and Youssef En-Nesyri, firmly siding with the Super Eagles striker as the more complete and effective player.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray last September from Napoli, has been in scintillating form for the Yellow-Reds, netting 28 goals and providing 5 assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.
His heroics have propelled Galatasaray to the Turkish Cup semifinals and kept them on course for a domestic double.
En-Nesyri, meanwhile, has scored 26 goals and contributed 6 assists in 44 games, but Soydan believes the Moroccan forward falls short when compared to the Nigerian star.
In quotes relayed by habersarikirmizi, Telegol commentator Soydan praised the impact of Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk and credited both him and Osimhen as central to the club's title chase.
"If Fenerbahçe cannot become champions, it will not be because of Jose Mourinho. If Galatasaray will become champions, it will be because of Okan Buruk and Victor Osimhen," he stated.
The former Fenerbahçe man also criticized Jose Mourinho's transfer choices at Fenerbahce, while praising the significant influence Galatasaray's key players have had on their success this season.
"This squad and these players were not given to anyone. Galatasaray has stars like Davinson Sanchez, Torreira, Osimhen. Mourinho wanted the wrong names," Soydan added.
He also cast doubt on En-Nesyri's goal-scoring credentials, insisting that the Moroccan forward does not measure up to Victor Osimhen.
"There was an offer of 30 million Euros for En-Nesyri, but they did not sell him. If it were me, I would sell him. He is not as good a goal scorer as Victor Osimhen," he said.
Osimhen's stellar performances have reportedly drawn interest from top European clubs, including Chelsea, Juventus and Manchester United, with a potential summer move on the horizon.
