Lyon, Wolfsburg and Besiktas join race for Manchester United academy graduate Oyedele
Published: June 15, 2025
The number of clubs interested in signing Manchester United academy graduate Maxi Oyedele is increasing,
According to Polish sports daily Przegląd Sportowy, famous transfer market journalist Fabrizio Romano in the program Okno Transferowe on the Meczyki channel revealed that the Super Eagles-eligible midfielder will probably leave Legia Warsaw in the summer transfer window.
Previously, it was reported that EFL Championship clubs, Anderlecht, Club Brugge, Werder Bremen and PSV Eindhoven were monitoring the situation of the two-cap Poland international.
French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas and Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have joined the race for the young midfielder.
One of the interested clubs must trigger the €6 million release clause included in his current contract with Legia Warsaw to secure his signing.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are also set to reportedly benefit financially from any potential transfer.
As per the terms of his 2024 transfer to Poland, the Red Devils are entitled to 40% of any future sale – a clause that could see them pocket a significant sum should the move go through.
Oyedele was named in Poland's squad for the June internationals against Moldova and Finland but was a non-playing substitute.
Had he featured in either game, particularly the World Cup qualifier against Finland, he would have been cap-tied to Poland and thus ineligible to represent the Super Eagles.
Last season, the 20-year-old recorded 24 appearances in all competitions for Legia Warsaw, including five in the Conference League.
