Confirmed: Eze signs new deal with Blackburn as another Nigerian defender joins from Wolves

EFL Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers have confirmed the signing of Nigerian defender David Odogun.

The official website of Blackburn is reporting that Odogun has signed a scholarship deal and will link up with the club's U18 team for the forthcoming season.

The talented defender was on the books of Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers for five years before his release at the end of the 2024-2025 season.

Odogun will be aiming to make his debut in the U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup in the upcoming season.

A right-back by trade, he became the second Nigerian defender to agree a scholarship deal with Blackburn Rovers.

The announcement came alongside confirmation that highly-rated centre-back Silver Obinna Eze had committed his future to the club despite interest from Italian teams.

Eze is also eligible to represent Italy's national team and was called up for an U17 training camp in March 2025.

Last season, he featured in twelve matches in the U18 Premier League and made his debut in the Premier League 2, after joining Blackburn Rovers on schoolboy terms from Accrington Stanley in November 2024.

Blackburn Rovers finished seventh in the U18 Premier League in 2024-2025 and were beaten by Sheffield United in the third round of the FA Youth Cup.
