Official: Son of former Super Eagles striker signs new deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers
Published: July 09, 2025
Through a statement on the official website, Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced that talented tri-national defender Wesley Okoduwa has signed a new deal with the Premier League club.
The promising right-back has signed his first professional contract with Wolves, after turning seventeen in May, and will now continue his eight-year association with Wolves.
Football runs in the family for the youngster as he is the son of former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Okoduwa.
The senior Okoduwa had spells with Ukrainian top-flight sides Shakhtar Donetsk and Arsenal Kyiv during his playing career.
Emmanuel also represented Nigeria at the 2003 All-Africa Games, playing a pivotal role in the team’s journey to the final.
He found the net against South Africa and Senegal in the group stage, helping Nigeria secure a silver medal at the competition.
Wesley Okoduwa was on the cusp of making history as the youngest player to represent Wolves' first team in a competitive game on March 2, 2024, having been named in the matchday squad against Newcastle United in the Premier League, but he did not feature during the game at St James' Park.
Since then, he has been included in five additional Premier League matchday squads but is yet to make his senior debut.
Last season, Okoduwa featured for Wolves across multiple competitions, including the Premier League 2, U18 Premier League, Premier League Cup, FA Youth Cup and the EFL Trophy, where he played the full 90 minutes against senior opposition in Wrexham.
In addition to Nigeria, Wesley Okoduwa is also eligible to represent England and the United States at international level.
