Confirmed: Sam Alabi signs new contract with Newcastle United

With a statement on the official website, Newcastle United have announced that England youth teamer of Nigerian descent Sam Alabi has signed a new deal with the club.

The Magpies confirmed on Wednesday that eleven teenagers have signed scholarships at the club's Little Benton Academy for the 2025/26 season, with Alabi part of the group.

Jack Callaghan, Luke Gilligan, Oliver Holland, Mason Miley, Michael Mills, Noah Morgan, Ethan Ndiweni, Thomas Old, Jack Patterson and Sammy Pinnington have also been offered scholarships at the Magpies' youth set-up.

In February 2025, at just 15 years old, Alabi became the youngest player to train with Newcastle United's first team under manager Eddie Howe.

He made fifteen appearances in the U18 Premier League last term and featured in his first two matches in the FA Youth Cup.

Alabi was included in the Young Lions squad for April's Montaigu Tournament, featuring in matches against Japan and Mexico, and was named on the bench for the clash with Portugal.

As all eleven of his appearances for England U16s came in friendly matches, Alabi remains eligible to represent Nigeria's Golden Eaglets without needing to apply for a change of association.
