Chukwueze among scorers as AC Milan hammer Perth Glory 9–0 in pre-season friendly
Published: July 31, 2025
Samuel Chukwueze was on target as AC Milan thrashed Australian side Perth Glory 9-0 in a pre-season friendly on Thursday, delivering a strong statement ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
The Nigerian winger scored in the 31st minute, capping off a dominant first-half display at HBF Park in Perth.
Chukwueze’s goal came after a sharp run behind the defence, as he latched onto a well-weighted pass and smashed the ball beyond the goalkeeper.
The 26-year-old’s contribution stood out in a match that saw the Rossoneri overwhelm their hosts with fluid attacking football under the guidance of returning manager Massimiliano Allegri.
Filippo Terracciano opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, followed by a quickfire brace from Noah Okafor in the 23rd and 27th minutes.
Christian Comotto added a penalty in the 29th minute before Chukwueze struck two minutes later.
Rafael Leão then netted twice in the second half, with further goals coming from Samuele Ricci and Yunus Musah.
Chukwueze’s future at San Siro has come under scrutiny in recent months, with the winger seeing limited playing time and linked with Fulham and Real Betis.
However, his performance against Perth offered a timely reminder of the quality that earned him a €20 million move from Villarreal in 2023.
Allegri has previously deployed the Super Eagles star as a wing-back during pre-season, and Thursday’s outing highlighted his potential impact in advanced roles.
With Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign and World Cup qualifiers approaching, Chukwueze’s form could also boost his international prospects.
