Confirmed: Crystal Palace must sign Uche on permanent deal after loan spell

Premier League side Crystal Palace confirmed the loan signing of Nigeria international Christantus Uche on deadline day.

Uche's parent club, Getafe have confirmed that his loan to Crystal Palace includes a mandatory purchase clause, obliging the Eagles to complete a permanent transfer once the loan period concludes.

The 22-year-old joined Getafe last season following an impressive campaign at Ceuta.

Under José Bordalás, Uche made his La Liga debut and featured in 38 competitive matches, contributing four goals and seven assists.

This season, he had already started the first three league games, accumulating 270 minutes, highlighting his tactical importance under Bordalás, who publicly expressed reluctance to let him leave.

The deal is valued at around €18 million, with potential add-ons pushing the total to €22 million.

The transfer fee will provide Getafe with financial flexibility to register players including Juanmi, Sancris, Kiko Femenía, Abdel Abqar, Javi Muñoz, and Neyou.

UEFA and domestic regulators treat mandatory purchase clauses differently from optional ones as they represent a committed future expenditure, impacting budgeting, Financial Fair Play calculations and reporting requirements.

Uche is expected to report for international duty in the coming days, having completed his move to Crystal Palace.
