U20 WC Nigeria 3-2 Saudi Arabia: Bameyi nets injury-time winner after Salihu, Ochoche first half goals

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria bounced back emphatically from their 1-0 opening defeat to Norway in the U-20 FIFA World Cup to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory over Saudi Arabia in the early hours of Friday.

After a tense start, Nigeria drew first blood through Salihu Nasiru, whose precise header from a Sani Suleiman cross gave the team an early lead.

Saudi Arabia responded in the 21st minute with Amar Al Yuhaybi leveling the score, setting the stage for a highly competitive encounter.

The Flying Eagles regained the advantage in the 38th minute when Amos Ochoche capitalized on a well-timed pass from Nasiru to put Nigeria 2-1 ahead.

The second half saw Saudi Arabia fight back, with Talal Haji heading home in the 50th minute to equalize once more.

Nigeria, however, showed remarkable composure, earning a penalty in stoppage time after a handball by Awad Aman, which Daniel Bameyi converted to clinch a hard-fought 3-2 win.

The Flying Eagles will now face Colombia in their final group phase match on Monday, needing a positive result to secure advancement.
