2025 Flying Eagles invitee among two Nigerians nominated for Chelsea Goal of the Month
Published: October 06, 2025
Premier League giants Chelsea have announced their Goal of the Month nominees for September 2025, with two England youth internationals of Nigerian descent, Chizaram Ezenwata and Tyrique George, among the contenders for the accolade.
2025 Flying Eagles invitee Ezenwata earned his nomination for a composed finish during Chelsea's U18 Premier League victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Cobham Training Ground on September 20.
The 17-year-old forward displayed remarkable confidence as he converted from the penalty spot with a cheeky Panenka, doubling the Blues' lead in the 80th minute.
First team starlet Tyrique George, renowned for his flair and eye for the spectacular, was recognised for his outstanding strike in the Carabao Cup third round clash against Lincoln City.
Just three minutes into the second half, the winger pounced on a loose ball and unleashed a thunderous 20-yard effort that crashed off the post and into the net, a goal that sparked Chelsea’s spirited comeback.
Other players on the shortlist include Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer, Harrison Murray-Campbell, Kobe Barbour, Facundo Buonanotte and Ryan Kavuma-McQueen.
Ezenwata was called up to Nigeria's Flying Eagles training camp ahead of the Fifa U20 World Cup in Chile, but was unable to join the squad due to club commitments.
The prolific striker has been in scintillating form, finding the net in each of his last five U18 Premier League appearances.
