Arsenal's Super Falcons-eligible midfielder named in England U17 provisional squad for MIMA Cup
Published: January 21, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that the English Football Federation remain in the driving seat for the services of Arsenal's Super Falcons-eligible player Omotara Junaid.
The box-to-box midfielder is eligible to represent her country of birth United States, Nigeria through her father and England by virtue of being born to an English mom.
Omotora's dad recently confirmed that his daughter was interested in playing international football for Nigeria and would accept an invitation to play for the Flamingoes if handed a call-up by the Nigeria Football Federation.
But the English FA could provisionally cap-tie the midfielder in March 2024 if she's called up and given minutes in the European U17 Championship qualifiers.
As part of their preparations for the U17 Euro qualifiers, the Young Lionesses will head to Spain next month to take part in the fourth edition of the MIMA Cup.
Junaid has been informed to meet up with the England squad in Birmingham on February 1, 2024, two days before the squad departs for Spain.
England U17s will be up against Netherlands in a friendly on February 3, followed by two games at the 2024 MIMA Cup against Philippines (Feb 5) and an unconfirmed country (Feb. 8).
The games will hold at the Pinatar Arena, San Pedro del Pinatar in Spain.
