Official: Huddersfield loan in Crystal Palace GK, confirm he declined Flying Eagles call-up
Published: July 03, 2025
Huddersfield Town have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Owen Goodman on a season-long loan deal from Crystal Palace via a statement on the club's official website.
The Terriers revealed that their new signing, eligible to represent England, Canada and Nigeria, has featured for both England and Canada at U20 level and declined a call-up from Nigeria.
Goodman received an invitation to train with the Flying Eagles ahead of the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations but failed to report to camp in Abuja.
The Crystal Palace academy graduate spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Sky Bet League Two's AFC Wimbledon, where he had a scintillating season, which resulted in a promotion to Sky Bet League One for the Dons.
As Wimbledon's starting goalie, he made 53 appearances and kept a staggering 25 clean sheets, conceding 39 goals along the way. His exploits earned him the division's Golden Glove accolade.
Huddersfield Town finished in 10th place in League One last season and have launched a massive rebuild with Owen Goodman coming in as their seventh signing so far this summer.
Goodman, who is well-rated by his parent club Crystal Palace, will start pre-season training with their first team before joining up with his new Huddersfield Town teammates at Canalside ahead of the club’s trip to Austria.
He has been named on the Crystal Palace first team bench on a number of occasions but is yet to make an appearance.
