Tottenham Hotspur loanee Ajayi finds the net on non-competitive debut for Doncaster Rovers

Tottenham Hotspur-owned forward Damola Ajayi made an instant impact with a goal on his non-competitive debut for League One club Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday.

The highly-rated Nigerian teenager will spend the entire upcoming season on loan at Doncaster Rovers as he looks to gain valuable first-team experience.

The friendly consisted of two 60-minute games in one, with Doncaster Rovers manager Grant McCann naming Ajayi in the starting lineup for the first match.

Goals from Damola Ajayi, George Broadbent and Brandon Hanlan secured  a 3-2 victory for Doncaster Rovers in their opening pre-season fixture against National League North club Alfreton Town.

The hosts took the lead in the 33rd minute when Josh Clackstone fired in from the spot but Rovers were level at minute 45, thanks to Ajayi.

Billy Sharp spun onto a pass in the box and fired a shot that was parried by Alfreton goalkeeper George Willis, before Owen Baile's follow-up was blocked and Damola Ajayi pounced to lash home the rebound from 12 yards.

Ajayi was a member of the Tottenham Hotspur squad that won the Europa League in May, although he was an unused substitute in the showpiece against Manchester United.

The 19-year-old had a dream debut for Spurs' first team, scoring within three minutes of his introduction in a 3-0 win over Elfsborg.
