Chelsea star Tosin names his favourite Nigerian food amid Super Eagles links
Published: July 09, 2025
Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has revealed his favourite Nigerian meal as pounded yam and okro soup, amid growing speculation over his international future with the Super Eagles.
The 27-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Fulham as a free agent in the summer of 2024, disclosed this during a post-match media interaction following Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Fluminense FC at the MetLife Stadium in the United States.
The win secured the Blues' place in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.
In a video posted on X, Adarabioyo, when asked about his favourite dish, smiled and responded: "Pounded yam and okro soup."
The Nigerian-eligible defender has impressed at Stamford Bridge since his arrival, playing a key role in Chelsea's UEFA Conference League triumph and helping them reach the Club World Cup final.
His commanding presence in defense has reignited talks about a potential switch of international allegiance to Nigeria.
Born in London to Nigerian parents, Adarabioyo represented England at youth levels – U16, U17, U18, and U19 – but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Three Lions, making him eligible to play for Nigeria.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers set to resume in September, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is reportedly keen on adding the in-form center-back to bolster Nigeria's defensive line.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has continued monitoring Adarabioyo, hoping to persuade him to commit to the Super Eagles and join a growing list of diaspora talents pledging their international careers to Nigeria.
